Landlord fire alarm checks
A BBC investigation has found most young children fail to wake up to the sound of a standard smoke alarm (click here to read the full story). The test, carried out on children aged between 16 months to 10 years old, found only one of the eight children filmed by the BBC showed any sign of being woken by the alarm.
The news which comes days after a major fire destroyed a block of London flats, where thankfully no one was hurt, is a timely reminder for landlords to carry out fire safety checks in their properties.
